Origins and Early History

The Draenei originated on the planet Argus, where they lived as Eredar alongside their kin. Their fate took a dramatic turn when the titan Sargeras approached the Eredar leadership—Kil'jaeden, Archimonde, and Velen—with an offer of immense power in exchange for their allegiance. Velen, foreseeing the corruption that would come from Sargeras’s offer through a vision granted by the naaru, chose to reject this dark pact. With the help of the naaru, Velen and his followers, who would come to be known as the Draenei, or "exiled ones," escaped Argus, evading the Burning Legion for thousands of years across the cosmos.

Refuge on Draenor

The Draenei eventually found refuge on a tranquil world they named Draenor, or "Exiles' Refuge." They lived in peace for a time, building the majestic city of Shattrath and other settlements. However, their presence eventually drew the attention of the Burning Legion, leading to the corruption of the Orcs, Draenor’s native inhabitants.
